Jesse Belote
Jesse Belote was born circa 1783. He was the son of Hancock Belote and Mary his wife. He married Nancy Lewis on 28 May 1808 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman Marriages: 25). The marriage record reads: Jesse Belote to Nancy Lewis of Thomas 28 May 1808. James Belote security. Nancy was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1790. Nancy was the daughter of Thomas and Sally Lewis.

On 30 July 1798 in Accomack Co., VA it was ordered that Jesse Belote was bound to William White The order was carried out on 26 January 1801. The record reads:
26 January 1801 - An Indenture made between the Overseers of the Poor and William White to carry out an order made in County Court dated 30 July 1798 to bind Jesse Belote orphan of Hancock Belote until the age of twenty one, unto William White who will provide sufficient Meat, Drink, Washing, Lodging, and Wearing Apparel, teach him reading, writing and arithmetic, the trade Carpenter Joiner and also pay him Twelve Dollars at the expiration of the said time (Walczyk Indentures: 6).
On 28 May 1808 Jesse married Nancy Lewis. The record reads: Belote, Jesse to Nancy Leiws of Thomas 28 May 1808. James Belote security. Jesse appears the 1810 Census on page 11 for St. George Parish (Powell 1800, 1810, 1820: 56). The census reads: Jesse Belote 1 male 0-10, 1 male to 26, 1 female 0-10, 1 female to 26.

Jesse Belote appears on the Muster Roll of Captain George Scarborough's Company of the Second Regiment Virginia Militia as serving 8 days (Militia in the War of 1812 Vol II: 694). On 29 June 1817, Walter Belote mentions brother Jesse Belote in his will in Accomack Co., VA. the will was probated on 25 November 1822. (Miles & Miles, Wills: 57).

In 1820 Jesse is shown on page 37A in St. Georg Parish (114). The census reads: Jesse Belote 1 male 0-10, 1 male 26-45, 2 females 0-10, 1 female 10-16. He is not named in the 1830 Census (Powell 1830).

Jesse Belote and Nancy Lewis had the following child:

1. Mary Belote was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1819. She married Henry Trader on 17 June 1839 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman Marriages: 293). The marriage record reads: Mary Belote of Jesse to Henry Trader of William on 17 June 1839 William Thornton and Edward Mears securities. Henry was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1814. He was the son of William Trader (Walczyk Deaths: 158). Henry died on 24 November 1887 (158). The death register reads: Trader, Henry, w/m, 24 Nov 1887 in Accomack Parish, old age, 72 yrs, c/o Trader, Wm.& born in ACC, husband of Trader, Mary, Tate, Rosetta Daughter g/info.
