The Grand Jury who were adjourned yesterday this
day appeared and after retiring some time returned into Court and made the following
presentments against sundry persons to wit, against Kendall Beach for suffering his
Negro Slave named Daniel Roan to go at large and hire himself out as a freeman this
year 1802 on the knowledge of Richd Rodgers & Henry Parker Jurors; also against Nancy
Evans for suffering her Negro Man Slave named Freeman to go at large and hire himself
out as a freeman this year 1802 Witness John Lewis of Spencer, Elijah Grinalds; Godfree
for suffering a certain Negro Man George whom he hires of Wm Custis to go at large
and hire himself as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Thomas Cropper; also against
William Justice of Ralph for suffering his Negro Man Slave named Bob to go at large
and hire himself out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Thomas Cropper; also against
Joseph Moore for suffering a certain Negro Man Exor whom he hires of John Mears to
go at large and hire himself out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Thomas Cropper
& Matthew Outten; also against Levin Stewart for suffering her Negro Slave named
Daniel Allen to go at large and hire himself out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness
Smith Cutlar & Walter Beavans; also against James Stewart for suffering his Negro
man Slave named Jingo to go at large and hire himself our as a freeman this year
1802, Witness Smith Cutlar; also against Abel Garrison for suffering his Negro man
named Abram to go at large and hire himself out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness
Smith Cutlar: also against Walter Jameson for suffering his Negro man Slave named
Joshua Wiggen to go at large and hire himself this year 1802, Witness Stephen Pusey;
also against Levin Nock for suffering his Negro man named Charles to go at large
and hire himself out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Smith Cutlar; also against
John Read for suffering his Negro man Slave named Custis Mingo to go at large and
hire himself out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Smith Cutlar; also against
John Hornsby for suffering his Negro man named Job to go at large and hire himself
out a freeman this year 1802, Witness Richard Bayly; also against Tabitha Lawson
for suffering his Negro man Slave named Severn to go at large and hire himself out
as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Richard Bayly; also against Babel Mason for
suffering his negro man Slave named Abel to go at large this year 1802, Witness Thomas
Cropper; also against Ann West for suffering his Negro man Slave named Jacob to go
at large and hire himself out as a free man this year 1802, Witness Thomas Cropper;
also against Francis Roberts for suffering a certain Negro man Slave named Simon
whom he hires of John A. Parker to go at large and hire himself as a freeman this
year 1802, Witness Richard Bayly, John Read & John A. Parker; also against George
Coleburn as guardian to the Orphans of Thomas Coleburn decd for suffering a certain
Negro woman Slave named Keziah belonging the said Orphans to go at large and hire
herself out as a freewoman this year 1802, Witness Smith Cutlar; also against Elizabeth
Henry for suffering her Negro man Slave named Jacob to go at large and hire himself
out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Smith Cutlar; also against John Arlington
and Zorobabel Kellam as Executor of Solomon Read decd for suffering a Negro woman
Patience belonging to the estate of the said decedant to go at large and hire herself
out as a free woman this year 1802, Witness John Read & Henry Parker; also against
Charles West for suffering his Negro man Slave Toby to go at large and hire himself
out as a freeman this year 1802, Witness Wm Wise & Elijah Grinalds Juror; also against
William Churn for suffering a certain Negro man Slave Jame whom he hires of Daniel
Drummond to go at to go at large and hire himself out as a freeman this year 1802,
Witness Smith Cutlar. And having nothing further to present were discharged and ordered
that summons issue accordingly &c.
