William Thomas & others of Somerset County in the state of Maryland, for divers good causes and considerations, us thereunto moveing, as also in further consideration of the sum of sixty dollars, current money to us in hand paid have released from slavery, liberateo, manumitteo and set free, and by these presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate manumit and set free our Negro man named Adam, formerly the property of said Levi Thomas, decd; being of the age of thirty five years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance, and him the said Negro man named Adam, I do declare to be henceforth free, manumitted and discharged, from all manner of servitude or service to us, our executors, or administrators forever. In testimony whereof we have hereto set our hands, and affixed our seals, this Thirtieth day of July, in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.

Maryland, Somerset County, to wit: On the day and year above written personally appears William Thomas, John Thomas, John Howarth, and Sally Thomas, and John Pearson, partys to the above instrument of writing before me, the subscriber, a justice of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be their act and deed, for the purposes above mentioned, and the Negro man above named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to them or to any claiming under them, and to be free and manumitted, according to the act of
Assembly, in such cases made and provided

September the 30th day Anno Domini 1833 then was delivered unto me the Subscriber the foregoing deed of manumission, in order to be enrolled among the Records of Somerset County, which said deed of manumission, together with the acknowledgment thereof thereon endorsed, is accordingly recorded among the same records, in Liber G.H. No. 7, folios 100-101, on the day and year aforesaid.
