Matthew Harmanson, George Kendall & Kendall Harmanson made their report of a Road lately cleared by Griffin Stith in the premises In these words (to wit) IN OBEDIENCE to an Order of Northampton Court we the Subscribers have viewed the Road lately cleared by Griffin Stith and find that the same is well and Sufficiently cleared. Given under our Hands the ninth Day of April One thousand seven hundred & fifty one, On consideration there of, It is Ordered that the said new Road be Established.
In this time period it was common for one to ask permission of the Court to turn (reroute) a road on one's land. It was then ordered by the Court that the road in question be seen and men were appointed to do so. The new road was then ordered and the same men were ordered to view the same. Lastly, the Court ordered the old road closed and the new one opened. The above four entries are examples of this. - Gail Walczyk
