This Indenture made this the sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hindred and Ten by & between John Bird Senr of the county and parish of Accomack and state of Virginia of the one part and James (freed by Hall) of the same place and county aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Bird Senr for ad in consideration of the Just sum of eleven pounds Virginia currency, to him paid by him the said James Hall, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged that the said John Bird Senr. by these presents hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents said John Bird Senr. doth absolutely give grant bargain and sell unto the said James Hall his heirs Administrators ad assigns for ever the following blacks, to wit One Negro woman named Broadus also two Negro boys named Levi and Ishmael and one Negro Girl named Tabby The above Negroes afsd. unto the said James Hall, his heirs Executors admrs and assigns for ever, to be in the possession of James Hall after the decease of said John Bird Senr. and it is the true intent and meaning of the parties to these presents that at the decease of him the said John Bird Senr. that the said James Hall or his heirs executors administrators or assigns shall have full full right lawful power and authority to fore ever lay claim, hold, possess and inherit the aforesaid Negroes for ever, to wit, Broadus, Ishmeal, Levi and Tabby, that is after or at the death of the said John Bird Senr. as aforesaid and said J. Bird do hereby warrant and defend said above Broadus, Ishmeal, Levi and Tabby against the right or title of all other persons either his heirs Executors or Administrators or assigns for ever, but him said James Hall his heirs Executors Admrs or Assigns to have, hold, claim & possess the above Negroes for ever from, and at the death or decease of said John Bird Senr.
