The "Up North" Marsh Family - Contributed by Gail M. Walczyk

Among Grandmother's stories of the Marsh Family was the recounting that my grandfather's grandfather was a Northern carpetbagger who, "with good Northern money," came to Chesconnessex Virginia after the Civil War, his name was John Wesley Marsh, and he bought all the land from the Wise Family.......For years I searched for the Marsh family in New England figuring that there is where "up north" was only to find he was from Smith's Island MD and had a home on the Boundary line of Virginia And Maryland. - Gail Walczyk
